The 2.55

Sunday, September 23rd, 2012

A classic staple in Chanel’s design history, we are seeing the 2.55 Chanel bag make a come back.

Most recently spotted on the arms of Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung and the always posh, Victoria Beckham – this quilted beauty should be considered the most stylish jack of all trades. Dress it up or down, Chanel provides us with a sweet little 10 inches of pure luxury. Get it here!

Whether it be running around the city by day, or a night out on the town, Chanel’s 2.55 is the most chic investment piece any fashion savvy woman should own. Complete with multiple compartments, and classic red lambskin leather interior, we can’t get enough of this classic beauty.

Thank you to the talented Brittany Sparks for the shots!

Metal Detection

Friday, September 7th, 2012

From Lanvin, to Bottega Veneta and Missoni – we’ve been pretty excited over the amount of metallics we are seeing in fall / winter collections. Whether it be lamé, silk or brocade, we are loving the sleek edginess of metallic hues. Don’t get us wrong, we are definitely still trying to hold on to the last little bits of summer left, but adding metallics is a great way to begin to introduce fall trends into your wardrobe. Add a slight femininity to almost industrial inspired looks.

Talk about great timing, we were ecstatic when this Oscar de la Renta Knit Sweater Dress arrived!

We love the perfect shade of pewter in these Chanel Clip On Earrings

Chloe Klara Metallic Folding Clutch is the perfect sized clutch for evenings out! Complete with detachable strap and a mix of silver and gold hardware, you’ll be able to pack all the necessities in this fold over leather bag.

Tod’s Gommini Metallic Brushed Loafers are great with a simple button down and cropped trouser.

Take A Walk On The Wild Side

Friday, August 10th, 2012

We have seen animal prints come and go through the years -some fierce, some flop. It has become apparent though, they are here to stay. We love pops of animal prints as a staple in any wardrobe. Accessorizing with leopard, zebra and cheetah (oh my!) prints is a trend we are ready to pounce on.

Eye Spy With My Little Eye

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

We could not be more thrilled that summer weather is finally here! Style your eyes with designer sunnies. Stay cool and classic or funky fresh with pops of colour. Heart shaped, square or round, we have styles for all face shapes!

Heart Shaped face ladies like Reese Witherspoon, look best in glasses with rounded edges. We love aviator styles, or almost anything with a wire frame. Oversize lenses also look fab!

Try: Wire Frames, Over sized, round edges. We love, Ray Ban Cats 5000  in purple and 3.1 Phillip Lim Kit Blue glasses.

Square Shaped faced beauties like Demi Moore, have strong jaw lines and prominent features. Round lens shapes even out and soften out these hard lines very well.

Try: Round shapes to even out sharp lines of the face. We love, Giorgio Armani frames in tortoise shell and Chloe Jade sunglasses.

Round Shaped face starlets like Scarlett Johansson, should find styles that have defined horizontal lines. When the arms connect to the top of lens, a focal point is created and compliments the face beautifully.

Try: Clean, lean lines. We love, Yves Saint Laurent in gold and Marni Jackie O style sunglasses.

HC + Lucian Matis

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Early last week, we were invited to attend a Lucian Matis cocktail party at the prestigious Thompson Hotel Rooftop. With a gorgeous sunset and a breathtaking view of our fair city behind us, we celebrated the success of the Canadian designer. In his arsenal; several highly acclaimed fashion awards, editorial spreads in major fashion magazines and multiple appearances on industry related television shows. Since viewing his Fall / Winter 2012 runway collection at Toronto Fashion week (See: HC @ Toronto Fashion Week ), we’ve kept a watchful eye on the talented designer. We sat down with Lucian for a few minutes to have a quick chat and catch up. Listen in on the full interview here !

HC Manager; Erika with Lucian Matis & HC Co-owner; Jina

Haute Classics: We loved your last collection shown at Fashion week here in Toronto. What was your inspiration behind the gothic elegance we saw come down the runway?

Lucian Matis: Thank you for liking the collection first of all, its a wonderful compliment! The inspiration came from nature. I get very inspired by it a lot, and I think nature has endless sources of inspiration; coming from the sea all the way to the biggest of mountains. This collection in particular was inspired by the symmetry of nature.  I thought  about the wings of a butterfly for example, how they open up so perfectly. I recreated a lace that was hand designed by me, and hand sewn by the people in my studio. That really was a labour of love and dedication. We just want to create art and make a statement with what we do, so I hope we achieved that.

HC: You absolutely did! What was your favourite piece from that collection?

LM: I have a few favourites.  When it comes to the show; one of them being the opening. I thought the closing was my favourite as well, it took about 14 days to make. When it comes to a photo shoot, I have a couple different pieces that stand out to me. I can’t make up my mind!

HC: What can we expect in the future, where is Lucian Matis heading?

LM: Lucian Matis may be heading to Morocco. So, I’m very excited about that!  I have an idea in my mind that I’ve been sitting with for a while. I want to see if it can come to life. I’m not 100% sure yet, but i think it’s about 80% already created. It’s a matter of seeing things there, seeing the buildings there and getting inspired by them. I have always felt a connection with Morocco.

HC: You should always work where you are inspired! Will this mean you will flagship there?

LM: I actually will be flying to Morocco to  find my inspiration and fly back.

HC: Good! So then you will still be a Canadian designer?

LM: Absolutely!
